Hi Students!
We do not have class October 30th, so I've uploaded two books, and an assignment for each of them, intended for completion over the next two weeks. This week, please read "The Velveteen Rabbit," which has been uploaded to this site. The file contains the story, and some study questions at the end, but PLEASE IGNORE THE QUESTIONS. Simply read the text, which ends on Page 14 of the file. Instead of answering the questions, I'd like you to write four to ten sentences about a favorite toy, and please answer the following within your sentences. When did you get the toy? Who gave it to you? Do you still have it? What do you do with it?
Special Challenge: Is there a transformation in this story? If so, what is it?
Next week, please read "A Bad Case of Stripes," which is attached to this site for you.
In addition, please answer the following:
Name three ways Camilla transforms throughout the book.
Why does she pretend not to like lima beans at first?
Name three ways she and her parents try to solve her problem. What finally works?
