Hi Class,
Please finish reading "The Hundred Penny Box," by Sharon Bell Mathis. This story is largely about the history of a family, and the importance of never forgetting one's heritage.
In the spirit of this, interview at least three adult members of your family about your heritage. You can speak to your mom or dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, great grandparents, etc. Ask them the following, and then use the information they provide to write a twenty-five sentence paragraph about your heritage.
Questions for Interview:
From which country/countries is your family descended?
What, if any, cultural traditions or rituals have been passed down through the generations of your family?
What is one historical event that directly affected your country/culture of origin during a family member's lifetime?
What can we learn about our family from our background and history?
Are there any heirlooms or keepsakes that have been passed down through the family?
